You certainly are at that level when improvement won't come easy and it takes much more effort, practice and time to achieve even like a 100k improvement. It's fine-tuning your skills that take so damn long.
And of course it doesn't get easier when you lack motivation.

I don't know what you do when you play the game but I guess one thing that might help is to change up your practice-routine, or try a different approach to the game.
I had some progress on R&B for a while but I now can't take it futher and I stopped making progress on SM a long time ago, even though I know I technically have the potential for much higher scores.
So one thing I'm trying right now (something me and Fliper talked about), to break the monotony of reseting constantly, is to try and finish runs no matter how aweful they may be. The only exception is a wipeout. I've done this for SM now and finished some horrible runs in the low 7M's but it's a fun and pretty fresh change of pace. It let's you play out the entire track and it also abolishes the fear/pressure of going for your most difficult strats, so it's a good chance for practice too. Not sure if it's gonna give anything in the end but it's just to try something different.

Another good thing is to play several differnt tracks. My main concerns are R&B and SM but I have four other tracks that I'm working on as well, on and off.

But yeah, you're right. Just keep at it and your skills will catch up again.

See EDDY, I'm not trying to be "motivational" about it or something like that, but what I'm going to say now is a FACT! You will never know your real potential, because I've thought, many years ago, that I had already reached my maximum potential in SM, which was when I reached 10,050M, and I still went back there a few times to try to make some "improvement" ,without sucess... But it's a mental thing, if you really believe you've reached your maximum potential, you'll probably stagnate where you are, (I've heard you say something similar about being at your full potential a few months ago in merq when you was about land a 8,8M SM.. coincidence or not, it's since this time about that you do not make any big improvement right? )

Because when I came back to the game in 2015, I still believed that my maximum was those 10,050M (the only thing I believed to help me about was the x5 in the loop that I lost in this 10M that could put me at the 10.2M mark ) And I believed in it, so I did not have a significant improvement, and when Rastapo showed his super HARD SM line, I thought "haha pretty impossible", but I had a motivation (898ppp) that "forced" me to try to emulate this Line that before I thought impossible, and today I'm at the 11M mark, that is, I was completely wrong to think that my maximum potential was 10M... Is something mental, I would say until the correct expression is not "believe" but rather "understand" that you are not at your limit yet (I believe that the "limit" for any ssx3 player begins to approach, when it reaches The most possible, or almost, tapping speed, like X-X in the second x10 in SM) because that's when the game really starts to "limit" you in the physics itself .... if you did not hit this "level" you probably Is still not even close to your maximum potential, with Rastapo was like that, with me it was like that, with 898ppp it was like that, and with you is not different, just ask to Mystic, I'm sure he has that feeling now, On a level you never imagined before, and you still feel that you can go further! right Mystic?

By the way, is really nice see you around here Mystic...I "make your words my words", you expressed very well about it, changing the gameplay routine is a great strategy, I've never done it before, until a few months ago and I'm reaping the results now, I believe it makes a big difference! (Both advice, about the several tracks and not become a "slave" of the restart button) today I land a couplee ruthless jams runs in the 2M / 3M mark :heh because I crashed on the way and missed the combo but it is good thing keep until the end, for everything you have already mentioned in your post, and it is very good for time management too ...

so, GOOD LUCKY 9EDDY, i know that life is not all about game and the lack of time or tiredness really HINDER any performance but, you will see that whats i say is true, if you really wanna try harder, i know that you can...

ps: sorry about all the inglish mistakes :D

Guys, thanks for trying to help me out but now we´re getting off topic, I think PMs will be more suitable in the future(although I hope that QP, 898 and other players can benefit from it too). :) This thread is not about me, after all ;)

Fliper, you are not "motivational", you are A motivation :china And mystic too, sometimes I see your old videos in the suggestion list on YT man and I´m thinking "Wow, mystic´s reached far.." if I ever mentioned anything about hitting my maximum potential with 8.8 in SM I surely was wrong, I can improve.. I also keep in mind that you guys have spent more hours into this game than I have, since I´ve been busy with Tricky until 2015. It´s becoming more and more clear to me that fine-tuning skills in this game takes a very long time.

Hi All:

Happy New Year, Everyone!

On New Year's Day, I managed to get through Quick Man's Stage (Mega Man II) using only a Mega Buster and one power refill to kill Quick Man. Also, I did not use the Flash weapon to thwart the death laser attack. (It's been a long time since I played Mega Man II so I was very rusty at it.) Instead, I dodged them (on the Hard Mode). Here is a tip for SSX3 Free Stylists and Racers--if you want to improve your hand-eye coordination and have access to Mega Man II, play Quick Man's stage in precisely the same manner that I did. Your SSX3 reflexes will become faster since you will develop timing and touch by participating in the heretofore mentioned exercise.

As far as Perpendiculous runs are concerned, I am coming close to equaling or exceeding my present best mark of 5,310,820 points on that track. Last night, I scored 5.27 M points on a Perpendiculous run, one which, if I replaced a Fast X-SA with a Fast X-X, would be in the 5.3 M point range. I'll go for 5.5 M points on a Perpendiculous run if I have a fast start, a great Combo, and a sustainable pendulum motion which allows me to get one Fast X-X after another but, if I don't, I'll just focus on improving my present best score on a Perpendiculous run.

Take care,
QP

Okay, so I tried Junction for no specfic reason today and 10 minutes later I bumped my best score there from 3.2 to 3.48 million, run will be up soon. Did a lot of X-AS´s just to experiment, and then I just continued doing them for the rest of the run. Very good run for me out of the blue, don´t know what that was..

Hi 9EDDY2 and fliper:

Hi 9EDDY2, Your incredible progress on Junction is uplifting to hear about, and, as such, is an unexpected yet wonderful 41st birthday present!

Hi fliper, I considered your live 4.287 M point Schizophrenia run yet another unexpected yet wonderful 41st birthday gift, as the run captivated my attention from beginning to end!

Take care, Both of You,
QP

Happy birthday QP, hope you had a great day!

Great run fliper!

My best on Junction is 3.65 million now actually but I have the confidence that I can improve even further so I didn´t record it. I must learn when to jump in order to get enough air for X-X but still not too much. If I can do that then 4 million is in reach, but just barely I think because of my horrible time management in the beginning. I have no chance of replicating what Rastapo did the beginning of his 4.56 run..

Hi 9EDDY2:

Thank you for your kind words!

You are doing VERY WELL on Junction runs and I have no doubt that you will reach your goal. The key, here, is to try to improve your best Junction score by 50 K points to 100 K points each time you work on Junction runs.

Here is how to get No-Boost X-X turns (be sure to read the Video Description too): Perpendiculous SSX3 No-Boost X-X Tutorial for Dynastyboy473: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mP0Yjlplm0s. If you want another way of performing No-Boost X-X's, see Perpendiculous SSX3 Advanced 5 M+ Point Tutorial (again, be sure to read the Video Description): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWxROEXXMv4.

Be sure to do many Free Rides on Perpendiculous and, of course, on Junction, to improve your No-Boost X-X. You will find out that the secret of getting enough air is to jump when part of the snowboard is over the pipe wall.

Take care, My Friend!

Best Wishes,
QuotiianPerfection

3.7 million reached. One failed X, but still 3.7 so I´m happy.

Thank you QP, I agree, think I´m doing very well at the Junction all of a sudden, it´s not like me to any good at superpipes so...

And thanks for linking the tutorial again :)

I decided to not be a lazy fuck this time and included some MUSIC for once, enjoy! (This was included in the Burnout 3 soundtrack)

EDIT: My record is now 3.89 million(!), I therefore have a new video coming up as it may be the very best I can do for a while. Sorry about all the Junction runs, it´s been like 4 videos in 2 days :heh

Hi 9EEDY2:

Why, you're welcome--and thank you for your kind words!

By the way, I wrote all my comments to your fantastic 3.7 M point Junction run as a YouTube response.

Take care, My Friend,

Usually I don't do this but I decided to share this here.

Although the run itself is pretty messy I was very happy about the score.
Have had several failed attempts before this so I was pretty frustraded while doing this run, hence all the dead mt's (plus my controller starts doing weird stuff after about an hour of play :P ). However the loop-section was the best I've ever done so it saved the run.
I think I lost at least 1,2-1,3M (without doing any calculations)

9EDDY2, really looking forward to seeing your 3,89 run :D

My newest run is now om YouTube.

Mystic, your Peak 2 Jam is nothing but phenomenal! It's very hard to do difficult MT sequences for 12 + minutes, so don't be too hard on yourself man- and your consistency in the loop is hands down maybe the best I've seen. It puts my best score there to shame- I couldn't possibly hope for such a great Peak 2 Jam score.

Hi mysticinvasion and 9EDDY2:

Hi mysticinvasion, I want to commend you for your tremendous Peak 2 Jam and Junction accomplishments!

Hi 9EDDY2, I want to compliment you on your recent mastery of Junction!

I wish both of you the best of luck in all forthcoming runs.

By the way, my eight year old nephew won his first SSX3 medal, a gold, on a Happiness Jam run (the Cheat Character he used--his favorite--as Gutless, the SSX3 Skeleton, which, by the way, is my favorite Cheat Character as well).

Take care, Both of You,
QP

oh Hello my friends! how are you doing guys? :D

9EDDY, is just AWESOME see you in action again, and i always know that your improve was just coming XD, i hope that your life stuff are doing great as well, and i hope see a lot of more runs from you man :china

Mystic, i'm glad in see that you post this run here! and your looping section is insane, as 9EDDY pointed out, still in nowdays when i try some peak 2 jam run i strugle at this part, mainly if i do a ENTIRE loop section like you with 4 min ++ there, this is the reason that i spend half of this time on the ruthless pipe in my last run, to release that heavy pressure.. anyway , awesome run man :china

hey QP, really good news about your nephew :D Be sure to give my regards to him, and tell him that I would be happy to see a run by him uploaded :P and i rooting for you complish your goal at ssx3 too, and happy birthday (little bit late :heh ) i wish all of the best to you my friend, you deserve !

Improving on The Junction proved to be hard from where I am now, but I´m still sure 4 million will happen :)

I just did a 4 million Ruthless run, can´t remember if I did anything better on that track in the past. Lost my combo halfway through the run and did horribly in the pipe.

Hope to see new runs from you guys soon! :D

Hi fliper and 9EDDY2:

Hi fliper, Thank you, My Friend, for the kind words regarding both my nephew's Happiness Gold Medal and my 41st birthday! Next time my nephew comes over my house, I'll try to upload a Happiness Gold Medal run of his if he gets one. Today, I'll try to go for 5.5 M points on Perpendiculous run, but doing o is very difficult since it requires a run with no mistakes. Thanks, though, or believing in me. I can, too, say the same thing about you as you say about me: all your SSX3 fortunes are well-deserved, as I from past conversations with you know how much time you spent to mold yourself into a premier SSX3 Free Stylist!

Hi 9EDDY2, Congratulations on your 4 M point Ruthless run! I have no doubt, My Friend, that you will soon score 4 M points or more on a Junction run!

Take care, Both of You,
QP

Eddy, It's awesome to both see and hear that you're getting back on track with this game. It really sucks when this game stops cooporating with you but once you get out of it and start to make progress again, it's pretty awesome :D

Btw, saw your X-SA-SA in junction. Starting to get the hang of FC?

And thank you for this comment, it really made my day!

I've been pretty sold on backcountry as of late. Really hoping I can get some runs soon that are worth showing to you guys :)

thats great to hear my friend, and thank for this comment, when you land a 5,5M perp run, be sure that's nothing more than deserved as you , aside a perp specialist, put many many time of work and study about this track ! keep it up QP :D

hey 9EDDY congratulations about your ruthless jam score, is a really good score for a run that you lost the combo and don't used much the pipe, my 7M line WITHOUT the pipe yelds 5M, so supose that you hold the combo until the end and did some SA on the pipe probaly you can land at least something near of 5M or even More! i remember of your ruthless 2M that i see in 2015, one of the first ssx3 runs that you uploaded for the YT in the past i think, keep it up man, Me and Mystic talked a lot about ruthless recently, and i trying do something cool at this track too :P

as Mystic pointed out, how are you doing with FC now?

Yeah it´s fun being back! Well that SA-SA-X isn´t something that will happen often, hehe, so no I haven´t really improved that much at FC really.

Really glad to hear that man- part of the reason why I write such comments is to make the receiver feel good about themselves, but still I mean every word of it! It was indeed a monstrous Peak 2 Jam!

Hi IceXtreme and fliper:

Hi IceXtreme, It's nice to hear from you again! Take care, QP

Hi fliper, Congratulations on your new Ruthless WR--it was well deserved! You can read my feedback to you video in the comments sections below it: see Ruthless Jam 7,543 M SSX3 Live Run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uprSleVPthI.

Also, I must thank you for encouraging my nephew to videotape one of his Gold Medal-winning Happiness Jam run (he's still eight, but is going to turn nine next month). Your advice led to wonderful results: see QP'S NEPHEW' HAPPINESS JAM SSX3 59,955 POINTS (GOLD MEDAL--READ DESCRIPTION): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wePzst0RDeU. Take care, QP

Take care, Both of You,
