I assume you guys have heard about the ginger snap city in Bergen, which consists of contribution from various nursery schools around Bergen. Not so very long ago it was vandalized by some drunk 20-year old, it says in the news.

To the point: newspapers have followed this case for at least two weeks now, and people they have interviewed have insisted on punishing the one responsible, because their children are apparently SOOOOOOO sad about this whole thing. Why does such a small case, which it really is, gets blown up in the newspapers? Why the hell does everybody care when a silly ginger snap city gets vandalized, but not when people gets raped or bad injuries from unprovoked violence?

Where's the logic?! :frusty

Completely true, but I just think it's wrong that a ginger snap city gets A WHOLE more attention than the even most terrifying crimes. After all, a ginger snap city is only AN OBJECT, whereas a human has FEELINGS. I guess it's also because Bergen has had tradition for a ginger snap city every year, and that makes the newspapers blow it up and make big deal out of it, like you mentioned. Now it's been rebuilt though, so that's great.

The city may have only been an object, but it had en emotional link to those that built it. I seem to remember people were pretty pissed off when someone burnt down that Stavekirche near Bergen.

Yeah, the emotional part plays a role here, that 20-year was a complete IDIOT(!!!) for doing that to the (especially) children that wanted to see it and those who built it, like you said. In my opinion, the worst thing about this case is that guy was set free, and he only needs to tell officially to the people why he did it or something like that. That only shows how open Norway really is for crime. If people wants to commit a crime, Norway would be a very preferable option, because the consequences are much worse in most other countries.

The gruesome fate of the stave church made people mad, yes , and a copy of it stands there today. That was in 1992 if I ain't mistaken. My grandparents live only a few hundreds of meters away from it btw (not that it has anything to do with this thread :lol ).

Not only sad, it's a shame. The witness(if there was any, I don't know) was awarded 17.000 USD. HOW POINTLESS!!! :frusty That's definitely not worth that much!!!

This is clearly a hate crime against my people...

People need to wake up to this ginger-cide.
