I have a ton of albums and I would be devastated if I lost them all due to some porn related virus bullshit.

What do you use to back your stuff up? How much did it cost and how much data does it hold?

Hard drive wise, that's up to you, but you should get one at least twice the size of the files' total space you want to back up.

Software wise, that's easy - Cobian Backup 11. Free, full featured backup suite with timed backups, etc. Watch a tutorial online to figure out the basics, then you can set it and forget it.

Albums I back up on Amazon MP3. Fortunately I never had a hard drive fail on me before I could back everything up. I personally trust the cloud. People are paranoid thinking that putting their files on a server is somehow less reliable. My computers have died more often than anything I have lost in the cloud. In fact, I have never lost a file other than that one time I didn't log into my email and Yahoo deactivated my email account and all my old emails were gone. But, that ain't even the cloud cloud. Trust the cloud. Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Amazon something... or some other solution. Stuff is more reliable and the algorithm they use makes it practically impossible for your data to get lost except if someone deletes it or the whole server cluster is hit by a meteor.

Yeah, pretty much what TrickyEmu said. The only thing you might be concerned is the storage space. Most cloud services offer only 5-10 Gb for free. I've got Office 365 which adds another Terrabyte of space to my account .
I'm pretty sure there are tons of ways to expand your cloud storage for free...
