It would be a shame for EA to let a great crew go. As for MrB, does anyone even hear from him?

Have tried to reach him, but it must be about six months since last time. I think he's gone all Daft Punk on us. Todd Batty and the face we know is just an alter ego, a cover. In reality he lives his peaceful life deep in the woods of Canada.

I think that EA recognizes the crew's capability, and the importance of the franchise, given that we got SSX 2012.

^ I agree. The crew was so dedicated to the fans (and the future of the series). Connecting and hearing what we had to say, not many developers do that now and days. We are extremely lucky to have such a genuine crew. No way EA laid them off, it'll be a dumb move in their part really.

At the very least, they'll learn not to use always-online DRM anymore.

Oh, who am I kiddin'? It's EA. At least it's not enforced on the consoles as far as I know. But maybe they'll AT LEAST learn not to use something that crashed and burned when other companies used it.

Speaking of "always on," Did Microsoft backtrack their stance on the mandatory XBL connection, yet?

The layoffs were pretty broad, from what I've read. 10% across the board. We won't know anything until we hear from Batty directly, though his LinkedIn page hasn't changed.

This isn't really all that surprising and I do hope they can pull it together. A broad 10% doesn't seem that large. What I would like to see is the info on all the cutbacks over the last few years.

I feel awful for everyone affected by this. Hope the job market is kind to them.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 15 has allegedly been scrapped as part of the cuts. If that turned out to be true, I'd be very concerned for the future of SSX. I doubt SSX is any higher than Tiger Woods in the EA Sports hierarchy.

I saw that same story about Tiger Woods and I had the same feeling as city lights. Hopefully one of them will give us a little shout out to let us know everything is ok. They almost feel like family to us now.

I've seen batty go on the xbox on and off a few times, but very rarely. I also hopes he gets through those layoffs, so we could hear something about the next SSX.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Batty's team is still mostly what was formerly EA Big, right?

EA Big has some of the most talented developers in the whole company...I'd be shocked if the whole team was let go even if an SSX sequel got the red light.
