I frequently race in a multiplayer event.
One of the racers usually starts with a smackdown in which I am often the victim. This often gives him a full boost and leaves me 2-3 seconds behind.
How can you counter this move. I have tried using both left and right triggers together - but this doesn't help.
The best defence that I have is to veer away to the left or right or to stay in the starting blocks for about a second. Is there anything else that I can do?

not that i can think of, get out the blocks faster or beat em to the punch

He races using Sid - I don't know why, but Sid is hard to knock down and packs a mean punch

Hit out the second you are out the gates or just come out a bit late, the guy should miss then you can pass him later.
