I searched and found the old thread on this topic, where people were guessing what the persona thing was all about... I didn't know if I should resurrect it, or post a new one, but most boards tend to frown on reviving old threads, so I opted for a new one.

Obviously at this point, we now know that the personas were NOT explained in the manual (if you can even call it a manual), so I pose the question anew. What exactly are the personas? As far as I can tell at this point, they are just different racial features. Do they have any effect on the character "personalities"? (if you can say they even have one to begin with). Does anyone even know, or care at this point?

aside from the different icons, the persona's don't really appear to effect the characters or their style or anything other than the shape and look of the icon. It's supposed to be like each symbol is the style of the person you choose but once you have money, you buy your own clothes and that "set style" becomes non-existant so you're just left with an icon, pretty much. I think....:lol

I kinda figured. Oh well. I am trying to see if I can tweak the CAC enough to re-create the IP characters, although no such luck yet...

Then again, even if I manage to, it still won't be the same, since they would still be mostly mute, except for the occasional grunt. Of course based on what I have heard both here, and in-game, I'm not so sure I would want to have some of the voice-acting attached to any successfully re-created IPs anyway.

From what I can tell, it seems as though if you choose one or the other, the person will act different and say different things. But I can't be sure, because I've only had 3 different personas. Not that they talk much anyway.

Hmm, maybe it affects how they act during the various start, and win screens? That's the real problem. It is so hard to tell if it really makes any difference at all...

Guess, I'll fiddle some more, and see if I can't figure it out.

*Edit*
I have sadly, and quickly come to the conclusion that creating the IP characters is in no way possible. I tried with Tyson, and Mac, and both are wearing clothing that is mostly unavailable to the CACs, as well as having other options unavailable, such as Tyson's headband with a hood UP, and his bangs. His head is available, but only with a dark skin tone, and I couldn't find any head even resembling ANY incarnation of Mac. Oh well, it was worth a shot, I suppose.

Before the game was released, we were given the impression that each persona will determine your character's personality in the game. So it would probably change their voice, their attitude, their quotes, their animations, etc.

However, EA didn't really follow through with all that, given that the characters are personality-less. So the icons are pretty much an icon that you see on your screen, telling you if you can do Monsters or not. Basically, just pick which icon you think is cool-looking to you.

I do think that choosing which icon does determine your character's initial appearance, but after you win some cash, you can alter it. I think it might also determine their faces (as in facial expression), but I'm not 100% sure on that.
