I don't call the characters for characters. I call them corpses.

i'll just go out there and say that i think OT is a good game...but like every sequel, it has its flaws and lack of meeting expectations...i was really dissapointed with the lack of playability of the standard SSX characters...i mean, yeah, the whole idea is that "YOU are in SSX!!" but thats wut i loved about the other games in the series is that u felt like u KNOW these characters...online would have been fun as well...and yes, Bif Naked and Jim Rose are DEFINITELY missed...but u cant base your entire opinion of something on its living up to the predecessors...we just gotta b more open-minded

Exactly, the CAC ruins the game totally. I don't mind the online functions, 'cause I've never played online. :heh

And nobody can replace Bif Naked or Jim Rose.

BTW, welcome to the forum, Bud The Boarder. Is it ok if I call you Bud? :)

In playing SSXOT, I got up to the rank after 'Pro', and though I could progress further, the game just sucks too much to bother. You're all correct. I'll probably never see my CAC do some half-assed dance moves again.

By the way, my CAC has a WEIRD face, because hot isn't an option in SSXOT's CAC.

OT is bad enough that I felt inclined to post this. On to SSX5!

Edit: I do like the courses, but I think that's all.

Well, you gave it a fair shot DJD. I didn't try to give you any preconceptions as to whether SOT is any good or not, you came to that experience yourself, there's just not much excitement in the formula. :no

I think I can sleep now that all the opinions I read aren't sounding like it is the absolute thing. But there are a few things I feel the need to point out for somebody who bought SSX on Tour first.

Good things:
-Some of the voices. Hold on, before you start saying I'm an idiot for saying this, listen as to way I say this. As you get older, you don't have the same voice from when you are younger. Take Mac for example, he is older right? Do you expect for him to sound like a fifteen year old when he is twenty? No? My point exactly.

-CAC. Some people loved it and would want to see it improved. Others down right hate it. Personally, I completly loved SSX's version compared to Tony Hawk. Recently, I rented Underground 2 and did the CAC jazz. But I kind of hated it because all of the many stuff in it. My jeans looked faked, the shirt was a horrible color, and his face didn't look normal after a side veiw. SSX, real simple and the clothes come in different colors. Yeah, maybe adding some voices would be cool, but I don't really care.

-Rock theme. To me, I didn't give a darn about the rock theme, nor my sister who loves hip-hop and rap, nor my friend, nor my other friend who likes Linkin Park, nor my pastor's family, nor another friend who likes punk! Seriously, not everyone liked SSX 3 or Tricky's theme...

-Real mountain life. In Tricky and 3, there was no life in the mountains. If you just do free run, there seems to be nobody but you... On Tour had more than people on the slopes with you, it had animals! Even in On the Rocks, there is a Yeti scream.

-Good play time. Played Tales of Symphonia or Phantasia? (maybe Legendia, I don't know.) Guess what, those are long games, and I adore long games! To me, game time gives the most value out of a game. If a game is short, it isn't entertaining, so it isn't that fun for a long period of time. Tricky and 3 just seemed short. Sure, you can try to beat all the characters, but once you beat one, it is almost just pointless except watch the cut scenes that last only a few seconds...again.

Bad Side:
-Some bad voices. Yes, Psymon and Kaori just didn't sound right. I actually don't like Psymon on On Tour and even Nate was just annoying when you beat him with everbody asleep.

-Graphics. Do I have to talk about this? You get the idea. To me, it was fine, but it wasn't the sharpest looking game because of the drawings. But it is still playable.

-It isn't fun to replay. Okay, so none of the SSX games are actually like that, but sometimes I end up liking a game so much that I have to play it again. Note, I mean like stop playing it for a while then pick it up again.

Things that I don't care about:
-Lost of using the Vetrans. Do you know how happy I am that I don't have to listen to somebody mouthing off my friend or my dad? It is helpfull.

-Not-so-sexy Elise. This should be a good thing, but I always hated the characters who were suppose to be the dead sexy ones. No seriously, if you want someone sexy, go to Hooters or something, they are real!

-No online mode. I play Gamecube games, and I refuse to buy a PS2 or an XBox just to play it online. I don't miss it, although I'm just laughing at the idea that I can still do what the Gamecube substituted for the online mode.

Also, for all of you who bought SSX on Tour and hated it, let this be a lesson. Rent a game that you are not sure about.

P.S. I kind of noticed this but, do you think EA is trying to challenge us with every new SSX game?

I was also dissapointed in On Tour. There were so many things that could have been much better...

1. They took away the off-piste freeride runs. Gliding down Hapiness on SSX3 listening to chemical brothers was one of the coolest gaming experiences...

2. The Skiing was done really poorly. First of all, the skiiers cant ski properly, and they dont change their style even when they are going down ice in in deep powder. It looks stupid seeing a skiier try to carve his way down a power run.

3. The music... I just dont like it. I know it is a matter of opinion, but i dont want to listen to punk rock/emo music. SSX3 had the best soundtrack of any game i have played, and i am sure alot of people agree.

4. Why the fack does having better skiis/boards make you be able to spin faster? The attribute gaining system is much more realistic.

5. All the characters are the same... booorrring.

6. This isnt really that bad of a thing... but i dont like how they made you be able to rail down entire runs. They kinda took away from the skiing/boarding thing and just made some runs really boring; because you dont ski any of the run, you just sit on the same rails every time...
